It’s wildly crazy how the way we perceive ourselves shapes our decisions, reactions to certain situations, and our overall quality of life. Think of it this way… What you wear or where you are alters how you think and behave. When you’re out at the beach, wearing the perfect bikini and your wide-brim sun hat… you feel more relaxed. But when you’re at a conference wearing your power suit… You’re oozing with confidence and conviction.
Your behavior when you’re at the beach versus at a conference are so different it’s like you’re a new person. So my question is… What if we look at ourselves as someone who is already our best version… Or at least living day one of being our best version? How would that impact the way we make decisions moving forward?
All the juicy lessons Tanya Jane shared inside the episode:
- Why reprogramming the way you think about money is a priority
- What you tolerate in life shapes the way you live
- Making the conscious decision that you’re already a new version of yourself
- Why it’s okay to change paths when you feel what you do is no longer in alignment with who you are
- Tanya Jane’s story of how in 8 weeks she went from barely making rent to driving the new Mercedes
Top Takeaways from Em:
- The TRANSACTION starts the TRANSFORMATION
It will always be the first step that will count the most. That conscious decision we’re making to become a different person. The day one of starting a new habit that will last a lifetime and foster growth. The course/program we will purchase that will change the way we think and feel about a certain topic.
But most people are afraid of taking that first step. It’s new… mostly scary. But really, what holds us back the most is the way we perceive ourselves. Saying things like “we’re not there yet” or “I’m not that person yet” stops us from making a decision our ideal self would make.
So what if… we look at ourselves as already our best version and then make that decision? I bet the transaction would feel more in alignment.
- Sometimes getting what you want doesn’t feel the way you thought it would feel
Being seen as a consistent person is beautiful, I’ll admit. But if being consistent is costing you alignment, passion, and having the heart for what you do… Then that’s when it becomes a problem. When you decide to prioritize consistency over alignment… What you’re doing is people-pleasing.
Understanding that growth requires CHANGE means allowing yourself to switch paths whenever you feel like the one you’re taking is no longer in alignment with who you are. And this can happen even when you’re already living the life you thought you wanted 5 years ago.
The trick is to check in with yourself from time to time… Hear your inner voice. And be comfortable with changing course especially when your intuition tells you it’s the right thing to do.
- Everything can change so quickly when you decide you are no longer available
It all starts when you decide you’re no longer the old version of you… You’re no longer tolerating the chaos in your life… And you’re willing to step into who you want to become. Making that conscious decision takes power out of your outdated perception and into the new reality you’re creating.
Tanya shared her personal story of how when she decided it was time to make decisions as her new self… Her life completely changed. And it’s mostly because she decided she’s no longer available for her old self.
- Which identity are you embodying?
Asking ourselves this question is so, so powerful. Sometimes we don’t see who we are embodying and that person shapes the decisions we make every single day. Imagine if you know you’re embodying the successful entrepreneur or the loving mom… you’ll make decisions as that person.
So from time to time… Ask yourself. Which identity are you embodying? And while you’re at it… Why not start embodying your ideal self? Think of it as the beginning where you decide to leave your old self and start living as your best version. You’ll still grow and learn… but you’ll grow and learn as someone new.
- Taking those micro-actions
We don’t always see them or their impact on our wins and lessons. But the small actions we make ALSO matter. Sometimes they even shape how we go through life. How we talk to ourselves throughout the day. Choosing to react differently to a situation. These micro-actions matter.
And going back to takeaway number 4… What do the micro-decisions your ideal self will make look like? What is she thinking? How is she talking to herself when situations get tricky? Identify those and then take those micro-actions into your current reality.
You’ll be surprised at how much change and growth you’ll see unfold without much effort… Simply because you decided it’s time for you to be a new person.
