July Celebrations & Lessons

As online business owners, we rarely ever see ourselves not doing anything to move our businesses forward. But have you ever thought that the reality of running a business is… There is always something that can be done. And this puts us in a place where we add more and more tasks in our TODOs… Thinking productivity works exclusively when we’re ticking off those tasks from our list.

It may seem counterintuitive, but a well-deserved R&R is ALSO productive. It refreshes the mind, the body, and the soul. We deserve that long-delayed vacation we’ve been putting off so we can come back to our drive and passion for our business feeling renewed… This is the theme of our July Celebrations & Lessons episode.

What went down during my vacay in Michigan with family and more:

  • How the Universe sent me a message that I need to be 100% unplugged
  • Why I’m deciding to spend less time on social media
  • Gaining fresh perspective by unplugging
  • Yoga in the morning… by a clean lake in Michigan
  • Fishing, tubing, swimming, and lots of fun water activities
  • Meet my new CAR!
  • Finishing my 60-hour RRT training! (Yayyy!)

I know the idea of “work-life balance” is mostly used for corporate work… BUT the concept is also applicable to us online entrepreneurs. We rarely realize it but our product or service is rarely the business… WE ARE the business. And when we’re not in good shape physically and mentally… things in our business spiral down.

And it will seem counterintuitive for us to take breaks (especially long ones) but some R&R is ALSO productive. It means we value ourselves and our time with family and friends more than we value the business.

Taking these long vacations is also a reminder that we’re living a life where we are free to take time off when our body tells us we need time off. This is one of the perks of owning a business. But oftentimes, we forget this because we’re so driven to make more income, close more clients, and tick off more items in our TODOs.

But here’s the thing… There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done when you’re running a business.

I’m lucky to have realized this early on in my entrepreneurial journey sooo I’ve made sure to have time to be at least 90% unplugged during Summer vacations with my family. BUT this Summer, the Universe seems to be sending me a message that I needed to be 100% unplugged because while on our family vacation in Michigan… My laptop died.

It was a crystal clear sign that I took the moment I realized it. No BUTs. No WHAT IFs.

So in this week’s episode, I’m sharing with you what went down in our fun, two-and-a-half-week vacation in Michigan (where Jeff and I grew up). If you’re feeling down and behind in your business… Maybe doing more is NOT the answer. Allow me to inspire you to have fun, take a vacation… get off social media and into LIFE through this episode.

I’m sure there is a high chance for you to gain a fresh perspective by moving away from work. I’ve done this countless times (you know I always find time to balance work and life)… And taking some R&R by myself or with family and friends has always been beneficial for my business.

So I want you to take this as the large red blinking sign you’re looking for to take that vacation. You DESERVE it. And I promise you… it’ll be the best thing you’ll ever do for yourself, for your family, for your friends, AND for your business.

XO,

Em
